And this is a US board. US and UK law are NOT the same.

What happens if a 12 year old gets caught shoplifting? Usually nothing, a tongue lashing, a stern lecture, turn the kid over to their parents, that about covers it.

Once in a blue moon the police might be called, an appearance in juvenile court, another lecture, as I said, usually nothing. But, the 12 year old eventually turns 13, 14, etc...keeps doing it, and ends up in prison.

It's possible the laws could be slightly different in the UK than the US -this is mainly a US law forum. However, further details as requested might help us tell you more.

I had posted this earlier after shrinkmaster's post - it disappeared. I restored content.

Pakistani's might chop of your hands at the wrist. For a first theft offense, it might only be a finger.
