Can an employee be suspended with pay without being told exactly why they are being suspended and with no indication as to how long the suspension will last?

Yes, hundreds of people are suspended daily, without explanation.

Usually a suspension without explanation is the preliminary round to one's termination.

It might be in your nest interest to seek new employment, and complete your applicatio for unemployment insurance.

That way, when you do get terminated officially, you'll be able to submit your previously completed unemployment insurance without delay.

There are some exceptions to termination without rhyme or reason, usually government employees, employees working under a collective bargaining agreement, and select people with employment contracts.

Generally yes with a few exceptions such as a CBA to the contrary. Do you not have any idea as to why the suspension? (I assume you are talking about yourself?)
