My ex-wife and I are going throught the court process about her wanting to relocate to NY with our son and I am opposing her request. Meanwhile, she keeps denying my visitation and has just denied my 2 week visitation for the summer. So, I served her with contempt of court papers. I certified mail the papers to her address not her attorney (I don't have an attorney). I didn't know if she was going to use her attorney for the contempt. She called me and told me that I need to send them to her attorney and she was not going to give them to her attorney. My question is do I have to send them to her attorney or is it good enough to send them to her?
Thanks for your help as I have no idea!!!!

oh, and now it looks like she is refusing to pick up the certified letter and I presume it will be returned to sender/me. She is making this complicated. They sould give attorney classes in school as an elective the way this world is turning out.
thanks!!!!

Yes, send them to her attorney. All communication in this matter should go through the attorney, and your contempt notice is part of this matter.

Thank you for your response!! I will do that today. Can I had deliver them or do I have to certify mail? If I am able to had deliver do I have to worry about getting some kind of delivery receipt or something or is just dropping them off good enough?
Thanks Again!!

I don't know what your local rules of civil procedure allow. In either case you should get a delivery receipt in case service is disputed later. You could also send your documents with an acknowledgment form and ask them to sign, date, and return the form to you.

Why dont you hire a constable for 50$ and let them handle this? they can serve the attorney, they will file the proper papers w. the court- and be done with it.

Hire a what? Constable? Hum, never heard of it. I did a google search and still confused. Know anyone in the Brandon, Plant City, Tampa Florida. Just thought I'd ask. Well at least a little more info so I can find one anyways.

Thanks for everyones help!!!!
Really, it seems like getting answers/help in this area isn't very easy

This is insanely easy. Just send it to the attorney. The attorney will not jerk you around like the woman will.

Also, simply find a messenger service or process server. That is what a constable does in some states. I don't see anything for Florida in regards to Constables (their basically police officers who serve people documents such as what you're asking to be served).
