i also have a child failing, he will be 18 in august. NY state is 18. heres my deal, we divorced when he was 3, i remarried and paid support. But did not see him on account of no DNA testing. But as time went on, i tried reconnecting with him, but he wants no part of me. I found out he has a part time job, and i still keep insurance on him. With his failing grades, and 18 in august, can i cease all support, even if he is a junior in high school ?

Is there a child support order in place?

What does the order (if there is one), order you to pay, and for how long?

Support for NY actually lasts until age 21 (with a few teeny exceptions).

You can read more here: http://www.nycourts.gov/courts/nyc/family/faqs_support.shtml#su1
