My brother is the father of a 19 month old son. The parents are not married, have shared custody, but the mother has residential custody of their son. My brother works full-time and has regular visitation. He was offered free daycare services by his employment, the YMCA. The mother has told him no that he must pay for daycare near her because she does not want to drive the 20 miles round trip to the YMCA.
Also, the custody agreement states he have alternate weekend and weekday care of his son. The mother is stating that he will not be able to see his son during the week and must pay for the daycare of her choice solely.
Are there any options for the father? Can he insist on the daycare choice?
