i live in Tennessee and my son will be turning 18 on the 27th of June. He wants to move out the evening before his birthday. can he do that or does he have to wait until his birthday so he won't be charged a runaway and arrested?

please help ASAP! thank you

Compromise and agree to let him open the door and exit at 11:59 pm on 26 June.

That situation does not make him a runaway, and it does not make him arrestable. If you are ok with him moving out then let him go. There is nothing preventing it from happening.

If he were to leave without your permission and you were to report him as a missing/runaway THEN there might be a teeny tiny issue... but since he turns 18 the next day nobody is going to care.

I suspect the OP posed the question more to placate an angry ex-spouse, rather than an eager soon to be 18 year old.
