the father of my child failed to pay for a month of child support. He was very able to he just didnt do it. Now their is a hearing in a few days. He quit his job a couple weeks ago, but way after he missed that payment. I filed through DHR. So I guess they are doing all the work for me :)
Can anybody tell me what I can expect at this hearing?
Will I even be involved?
On my case alert it said I MAY attend. Meaning I dont have to i guess.
Would I need to bring anything if I do?

Thanks for your time
:)

Sure you should attend.

These hearings can be painful, but often enlightening.

Take any documents that could prove your case, or help the state prove he owes you money.

You most likely will win.

But expect this deadbeat to refuse to pay and offer a million excuses as to why he can't pay.

You'll eventually get some money.

Then this bum will miss more payments.

Bums like this usually end up locked in jail for a few weeks.

And, as long as he's in jail, he can't make money to pay you.

I hope he wises up, but most deadbeats like this rarely do.

My aunt's ex actually did 1 year in jail (on work release) for back child support and was told if he misses payments then he would be back without the luxery of work release.
