Applying another job on the same company

I am working as a administrative assistant in my existing company as a regular. However, one of the position such as sales agent was vacant and I am applying on that position. The company hired me and put me on that position but with the condition that I should be on contractual basis? Is this possible? Can I demand for the other benefits as a regular employee? Am I considered regular on this case because I was already regular as admin asst.
 
Generally speaking you will be treated the same as any other employee who had been hired for the position. So whatever the bennefits and pay are there, that's what you get. This should have been aksed/explained in the interview for the position.
