Just wanted to update this for anyone else in my situation. I was able to go to the bank and close my fathers account. In our case there was under a certain amount of money in the account. So all we had to do was show proof of a paid funeral and the death cert. Thanks to everyone for their help.

I just was able to close out my Dad's account. I was told that a new law states that if you have the death Cert. and you can show a paid funeral, andy one can close out a account.
