I was recently laid off peramently from my job as a sales consultant due to lack of performance. However, my sales manager would no longer allow me to cold call for new business unless I already had business in that area. This is hard to do if you can't cold call to get new business. I had developed a couple of new clients thru cold calling but due to the depressed economy in Michigan that process has slowed. The main income producing salesman in the office said that in a good economy he expects it to take at least a year for a cold call to become a customer. I had been cold calling for almost 2 years. Can I sue for lost salary due to not being able to do my job?

A person can sue anyone for anything. The question is will you win or is there grounds. The answer in your case to both of those is no. Google "at will" it will explain. In order for their to be a "wrongful termination" then a law must be violated or an existing cba or employment contract.
