You need to know that some people are mandated reporters.
What's that you ask?
A mandated reporter is required to report to the authorities any case of suspected child abuse or neglect that he/she observes or discovers.
Because a physician is one of those mandated reporters, they're held harmless for reporting such information.
In other words, they're immune from lawsuits for obeying the law.
If, however, you believe a physician is harming a patient, you can report him or her to the sate medical board or local law enforcement.
