What actions if any can be taken against ex employer?

I was employed at a local company for about 2 years. I was hired to do a few things, which quickly turned in to me doing 3 people's worth of work on top of my own. This company is all family and friends, and when the office manager's friend wanted a job I got fired and she took my job. How is this legal? Is there anything that I can do about it..anyone I can report this company to?

Unless it was discrimination(it is not), they could fire you to hire their pet monkey if they wanted to and there wouldn't be anything you could do about it. Only way you would be able to take action was if you had an employment contract that the employer breached(also not the case).
