water bill high city says old meter inaccurate

I got a $1145 water bill after city changed my meter they say there are two meters one outside that they bill me with and one in my basement that they changed in April that showed I had used more water so they billed me for the difference. They have offered to reduce this charge by using last years rate which is about half. But how do they know that the one in basement is more accurate they say they can have it tested but has been sitting for 5 months and will probably have corroded and will now read low.

You might want to bring that issue up with the city and see what they have to say. It doesn't change anything by stating your case with us here.
