Video Game software ownership question

I have aproached a game developer to help develop my idea into a warking piece of software with the aim of gaining profit from the game. The game is however not an original idea but based on an existing one.

Now the developer claims that the only contribution I make is that of a consultant, and therefore he is willing to pay me a consultant fee only.

Since I dont help with development or contribute financialy, I only give advice on how the game is supposed to be developed.

I would like to know how I should go forward in this matter
