My son works for an large well known insurance company in the provider services department. He is constantly being harassed by the management on things like going to the restroom for more than 3 minutes. Being told that he must sign in when he comes in early to work overtime, then being told that they aren't going to pay him because his name was not first on the list that day. Even threatening to go to security and see when his security card was swiped to get in the building, which would only serve to prove that he really did come in at the time he said. He even said he would lead the way. He was then taken to the department head, only after the lower manager talked with her first, to "discuss" the situation. He told the department head exactly what took place and that there were a couple of people that had signed in before him, but he did as he was told. She did agree to pay him this time, but prior to this incident, he lost 16 hours of overtime because he was told that he was to sign in first. This was only after he submitted his overtime request. He get numerous accolades from his customers which are documented by voice mail to his immediate supervisor and then email out to all of the staff as to the statistics of the week and everyones standings with customer feedback. Most of the time he receives the most. Is there any thing that can be done about this type of harassament? He is constantly singled out and reprimanded for things that no one else gets in trouble for. He and several of his co-workers went to the so called employee assistance department to complain about the treatment that most people receive, which as I said, none so much as he. However, even after speaking with all of them for nearly an hour a piece, nothing at all was done about the situation and the management continues their free reign of harassment unbridled. What can we do? Should we contact a lawyer who deals with harassment, or should we contact the CEO, or is there something else that we can do. Please advise.
