US Citizen married to a Mexican in Mexico. Tax status?

Hello, I am a US citizen married to a Mexican in Mexico. I wasn't aware of the fact this changed my US status for tax filing purposes. I of course will be changing my W4 tomorrow after just discovering this! I am concerned about 2015 though as we had been married for a short time and I never changed from "single". Can I rectify 2015 when I do my taxes here this month? Thanks.

Correcting a prior year tax return is a royal pain.

I suggest you ask the IRS directly through their many helplines, most notoriously - 800-829-1040.

You can also speak with a tax attorney, CPA, or IRS enrolled agent.

Are you talking about your tax filing status on the W-4 or your actual tax return for 2015?
