unpaid invoices

Hello everybody:
I am an independent fashion designer, I did some work for another designer, and she promise she will pay me soon. Is now 3 months later and I haven seen anything. I email her the invoices without luck. She allways said that soon she is going to give me the money, but nothing. the amount is $600 dollars. What is the way to go to collect the money?

If you were her employee, I'd tell you to contact your state department of labor. Since you're not, your best bet is probably small claims court.
