After working for a firm for over 10 years, I was laid off a month ago. I applied for unemployment benefits, but was denied because in March 2009 I formed an LLC with my sister (she put up all the money for investment) for the purpose of stock trading. I never made any profit ( in fact lost 30% of the investment) or never paid myself salary. I have no income now. Will closing the LLC render me eligible for the unemployment benefits? Please advice what to do?
