I live in NJ. I have a caregiver caring for my parents. They are moving to an assisted living facility and the services of the caregiver is no longer needed. We have no written contract with her or the agency. I gave her notice this morning, Sunday, that Saturday would be her last day. She had a representative call, as she does not speak English. The representative said 2 weeks notice is the law. Is this true in NJ. I thought it was a state where no notice had to be given. Thank you very much for your help.

There is NO state where an employer is legally required to give two weeks notice to an employee, or vice versa, unless there is a legally binding contract that specifically states otherwise.
