I'm in a bit of a mess. I was in this war and got home in 2003. while i was there i was ordered to pay support in va to a son i'm not shure is even mine. I pay support and owe back support. the interest is killing me, i keep falling behind and I am danger of getting arrested. i need help, i have no idea how the leggal system works, i need to know what steps to take.

You have to pay the support. If you doubted paternity of the child then you should have had a DNA test in the time frame allowed. I do not know what state you are in but if you were married at the time of birth, or signed birth paperwork, or missed a court appearance to establish paternity, sounds like you are the legal father. You should google your states child support guidelines to see if you are paying the right amount. See an attorney if you have any questions.
