My son's car was just stolen from his schools parking lot in New Jersey. He does not have theft coverage ins. The school gives parking permits to the students to put on thier cars. His car was locked and the keys were in his pocket. I am told by the police that cars are stolen often from this parking lot. Is there any liability by the school to safegaurd against this happening. what recourse do we have now. The car was worth about $5000.00.

read the fine print that came with the parking permit. Usually those institutions make it a condition of using the permit that you acknowledge that they have no liability for theft, vandalism and the like. That would mean you have to bite the bullet.
