My wifes ex. (lives in KS) wants my step son to live with him. He has filed papers. We just found out today, needles to say we do not want this to happen. My wife and I started the hole what if stuff. We are wondering what our child support may be? She only works about 10 hrs a week for something to do while kids in school. So can he get child support based on my salary. His dad was to have paid roughly $200 per month over the last 15 yrs has not paid or if we get anything it was less then $100 per month. Also he has not provided any health insurance as mandated, my wife and I did through my job.
I have had people say child support will be based on the household income and other say based on on my wifes. When they seperated he made roughly $8.00 per hour and now makes over $50,000 a year well more then me and we have never taken him back for a dime or gone after him when he has not paid we did not want the headache. What is out for lack of a better word liablitiy.
