Harris County TX: I Have 4 Children with my husband of 14 yrs. He almost killed me a little over a year ago. (March 31st 2008) In April I got a permanent Protective order with order of no contact with any of the kids or myself against him. We have not heard from him since the hearing for that. I do not know where he is...and would like to get divorced before the 2 yrs is up on the orders. I know that if he is in jail the day the order expires it will still be valid for 1 yr after he is released. What is the best way to ask for a divorce on these grounds? Is it true that I need to place an ad in 3 different papers to get a divorce "granted by public notice"? Wondering where to go from here....?
