Is there any thing specific that I need to do to retire from my job of 15 years instead of letting them fire me over a work injury that is preventing me from returning to work?
Thank you Brad in Nebraska

You need to check with your company's HR what you have to do to start the retirement process. They will guide you through the paperwork involved. Good Luck!

My HR dept. is not very friendly and the manager is not helping me. She is trying to stall it long enough so she can fire. Just wondering if I fill out a letter saying I am retiring will that interfere with my work comp cases.

Your HR manager should take the time to help you. Ask her to please guide you through the retirement process and if she refuses to do it, then inform her that you will elevate your complaint to the EEOC. As far as the workcomp cases, they are state specific and you need to consult with your local DOL office to see what impact it will have on you after you file for retirement.
