Questions I need to know about Obtaining Child Support

Hi there, my name is Kasey, I am 16 years old and hoping to go to university when I graduate high school. I would like to know what I need to be eligable for obtaining child support from my father who left me at 2 years old and moved across the country. I have his address, phone number, name and name of his girlfriend. I would like to know what I would need and how to go about getting it.

In the US, only a parent or guardian can receive child support.
We know very little about the laws in Canada.
I'd be surprised, however, if child support is much different in Canada.
