Question regarding possession of child pornography charges

A guy I know had his computers seized under allegations of possession of child pornography. This guy had been caught looking at child porn when he was sixteen, then once again at eighteen, then once more by his ex-girlfriend(who he sexually assaulted) at twenty. In an email he sent me(and presumably kept a copy of on his computer) he confessed to both the sexual assault and the child pornography. He also posted child porn images on a rape fetish site, and was forced to take those images down by the site(learned this from a google search of his screen name). He also admitted to his ex-girlfriend that he touched his niece once several years ago, proving he is capable of acting on his urges. Anyway, the police seized his laptop and his home computer. However, this was on June 23rd and it is now nearing the end of September. Does anyone know how long the typical search time for something like this is? Or if the long wait means they found images or if it means they haven't found anything? Also, because of posting images online, is that distribution? Or can that not be proven because of the post being deleted by the administrator?(for the record, they made him delete the post, rather than delete it themselves, not sure if that makes a difference) I hate the idea of him getting away with yet another crime...

This evil pervert will get his.

I suggest you stay far away from this vile monster.

Why?

A trap catches many things.

You don't wanna get caught when the trap is sprung.

If you know something that would help the police prosecute this evil devil, tell them.

More than likely, the police are still investigating this freak.

Oh believe me, I cut all ties from this foul creature(so did the person he sexually assaulted). I've given the police all the information that I know but now that the investigation is on going, they cannot tell me any details of it, and I have no idea what is happening. Last I heard, the investigation was still going on but who knows now. I hate the idea of this terrible excuse for a human being getting away with rape/pedophilia once again, but it's been months and we haven't heard a word, so does that mean they found nothing or perhaps it means they found a lot..*sighs* Well, here's hoping justice is served.

It's hard to say on some of this. They may be keeping the computer for evidence. But I'm going to second the notion that he will get his (and he will get his again in the next world, but that's just my thoughts....)

I'm not 100% on whether this is distribution, but I would tend to think so. Whether they can find records that he posted those picts is another thing. It just depends on what is still kept. The site admin may or may not have logs of posted picts. There's also the possibility that the site admin kept a copy of the picts to be turned over to law enforcement, but given the type of website it is, I would say that's about a slim to none chance. The admin is not going to want to bring law enforcement around to then have a look at whatever else is there.

His computer is going to be quite damning for him, but as for anything else it's probably going to hinge on witnesses. How willing is the niece going to be to talk? If she does than he's on to bigger charges.

I hope his computer damns him. I have a fear that he would have somehow wiped his hard drive, despite not having any warning that they seized his computers. It's unlikely but it's an irrational paranoia since he has gotten away with so much.

The niece won't speak. Her mother(his sister) as well as the rest of the family is standing behind this guy, 100%. I am not entirely sure either if anyone but myself, the woman he assaulted, the niece, and he(and the police, as I let them know) know about the touching.

Trust me, they can get anything you delete off your hard drive.
There are ways to scrub the hard drive, but it takes time.
Besides, these creatures don't want to destroy the filth that excites them.
It just takes forensics experts time to recover deleted files.
In the end, they'll get him.
