pre-marital debt..have question

I have a personal loan out in my name..ive had for almost 3 years..i lost my job and have not been able to pay on it..my question is..is if i get married will they go after my husband for the payment??? he is worried they will..he cant afford that when he is paying everything else..we would like to know before we get married..its whats keeping us from setting a date...please help...
