Help! I allowed my 3 year old daugher to participate in a ballet recital. Parents were not allowed in the building during rehearsal, but we could wait outside and see the cast room through a window. We were promised, in writing, that our chidren would be cared for. There were 3 adults caring for about 15 children. After their rehearsal, my daughter walked out of the room, unnoticed by any of the adults. Fortunately, I saw her and intercepted her before she could wander off. She was in tears, and I spent about 10 minutes calming her down - still, none of the adults noticed her missing. When I brought her back into the cast room to let the woman in charge know what had happened, she shut the cast room door so my daughter could not leave, and then physically escorted me out of the building and locked the door, leaving me unable to get to my daughter, who was really upset. I was completely in shock, and had no way of entering the building to get my daughter. Although I don't know if I want to take legal action, what are my options? This woman held my child against her will and without my permission. Did this woman endanger my child or compromise her safety? Yes. What, if any. laws did she break? I need to report her to the city in which we take this class (the city contracts with the ballet studio) and need to have my facts straight. Thanks in advance for your feedback!
