I wanted to ask about the legality of this scenario... I was offered job with company "A", I made them aware that I was currently employed and I required an offer letter before I gave my current employer my two weeks' notice. Company "A" provided the offer, I signed it and returned it immediately, and I in processed with the company. I gave my employer my two week once I verified company "A" received my acceptance and they ensured me the offer was a sure thing (via email) and not pending contract or position. A week after I gave my notice to my current employer and a week before I am schedule to start with company "A" I was told the position was deleted and the company decided not to fund it. Is this legal, can a company give an offer letter and based on this offer you give your two weeks and then them withdrawal the offer/position and end up with no job?
