Hi guys, I'm a 17 year old who saw on a twitter thread that some account posted nudes of a 15 yr old girl, I did not screenshot save these pictures or share with my friends or distribute in any way to people, can you get into any trouble if you click on "view this picture" on the twitter thread multiple times, but don't save/distrubite the pictures in any way? I was looking through a thread and i randomly saw them, they were not sent to me or anything like that.

Maybe, you'll have to wait and see.

Sometimes law enforcement agencies, usually Feds or state agencies, do offer up bait to catch crime rats.

If you saw such photos, it would have been better to report using the facilities set up by the site operator.
Twitter encourages users to report any Tweets that violate their ToS.

If you don't look, you can't see.
Be smart, don't take the bait.
Curiosity killed the cat, fortunately for that cat he had EIGHT more lives.

Unfortunately for you, you possess a mere one life.

If you value your life, protect it.

You didn't "randomly" see the child porn...you deliberately clicked on the link to view the child porn. Yes...you can get in trouble. Viewing child porn is against all state's and federal law.

In the abstract, virtually anything is possible. Clicking on such things is ALWAYS a bad idea -- especially if you know before clicking that what you're clicking on is kiddie porn.

If you randomly scrolled past this your should have no worries. However if you actively "clicked" on this image or link then yes you could have issues. At this point its just wait and see

Ok but how would i even get in trouble it was on a public twitter thread that multiple people saw?

There is a certain three letter agency "NSA" with many capabilities.

There are OTHER agencies with three letters that have vast capabilities, too.
"FBI" "DOJ"

There are far too many ways for average citizens to say.

You've done the deed, or so you've said.

All you can do now is wait to see if it was a trap!

If you see something like that again, ignore it and you'll never have to worry.

If the girl really was 15 then EVERYONE who viewed it, the people who posted it to Twitter, and potentially even Twitter itself could be prosecuted for violating the laws on child porn. It doesn't somehow make it legal just because a lot of people see it or because it's on a widely available service.

Ok but what if we never knew she was 15? I thought she was 19 years old in that picture as well.

Do yourself a favor and forget about this unless the police or the FBI contact you.
If anyone from law enforcement contacts you, view this video and heed the advice it provides:

STOP asking questions, forget about whatever it was you might have done.

For YOUR protection, OP, thread closed.
