I was offered a position with the FBI and they are going to interview my employer for security clearances about 1.5 months prior to when I want to terminate my employment. I can't just blindside my employer and not say anything so I am going to have to alert him prior to when the FBI comes calling. Can my employer (a publicly traded, Fortune 500 company) just say see you later or is there some statute or precedence out there for scenarios such as this one.

If you are asking whether your employer can terminate you when you tell him you've been applying elsewhere, the answer is yes, he can. That doesn't mean he will...I can't judge that since I don't know him. But legally, he is permitted to unless you are under a contract that specifies the terms under which your employment can be ended.
