Non Compete/Non Disclsure

After a year in my current position of sales rep for a construction equipment company I was told that I needed (had to) sign a non compete/non disclosure document. Actually I was told sign it or find another job. The document was extreamly broad and stated that I couldn't engage in the business or a similar business. I now am seeking another position that provide greater benifits for my family. Can anyone help?
