I would be grateful if someone could tell me whether or not i have a crimianl record if i was charged with a misdemeanor which the outcome was "nolle prosequi"....i'm very concerned as i am applying for jobs and i'm worried whether it will come up in a criminal background screening

Kind regards,
very concerned female

That means charges were filed but then dismissed.

You should tell a prospective employer about it.

The arrest and the charge being filed are public record.

To add to what the seniorjudge said, run a criminal background check on your name online from a third party and from the state's website were the charges were filed(each state has an official site you can check records….find out). If it is clean then you can say no. Some tickets in such circumstances shows up some don't...........hard to understand the protocol in such charges. If it shows up, find out from a local lawyer when you will be eligible to expunge the records if necessary...........Some states require you wait for the SOL to expire first.

Keep in mind that not all background checks are created equal and just because something doesn't show in one, doesn't mean it won't show in another.
