My fiance called me and said he got rear ended.. We currently do not have insurance. Will we be covered to get our vechile fixed if the other driver has insurance even if we don't ?
We are a member of AAA, just have no auto insurance..
Thanks

Driving a vehicle in Texas without insurance is illegal. It's also a very expensive traffic citation. It will also cause you to lose your driving privileges.

The Texas Transportation Code Section 601 defines the state's financial responsibility laws and penalties. In Texas, driving without insurance is a misdemeanor, and you can be found guilty of this crime on the first offense. A first offense misdemeanor is punishable by a fine that ranges from $175 to $350. For a second offense, the fine increases from $350 to $1,000.

Financial Penalties
In addition to fines, Texas imposes a penalty of $250 per year for three years on uninsured drivers. This penalty applies on the first and all subsequent offenses, and failure to pay it will result in harsher penalties.
Forced Insurance
If caught driving without insurance, you will be required to obtain insurance in order to continue driving. Driving privileges will not be restored until proof of insurance is secured. If you are involved in an auto accident without insurance, even if the accident is someone else's fault, you will be required to file an SR-22 for three years after the accident.

SR-22
An SR-22 is not a type of insurance but rather an endorsement on an existing insurance policy that requires the insurance company to directly report to the state's department of insurance whenever a policy is purchased, canceled, renewed or lapsed for any reason. The state does this to monitor high-risk drivers who have been mandated by the court to carry uninterrupted insurance for a period of time, even if they are not driving a car.
