I am trying to help my brother in law. He has a 2 yrd old son. He is not married to the mother. The mother recently ran off to a crack house to use drugs and has not even asked about her child in a while. What type of legal steps can he take to insure keeping his son away from her so she wont take him to the crack houses with her, giving her limited visitation with the father persent. Until, of course she cleans up then maybe joint custody would be in order. Any place I could receive some free or low cost help would be greatly appreciated.
