Job bait and switch

My husband has been the victim of a bait and switch. He was hired to do a certain job for a certain wage and is now doing something completely different for a fraction of the pay he was promised. I do not believe the wage offer was in writing, but he was repeatedly assured by the man who hired him that he would "easily" make this much money. After starting work, he was told by other employees that the employer has done this repeatedly and goes through employees like water - pardon the pun; it is a well-known plumbing company. Any recourse?

Oh trust me; he's looking. This was his best option and he never stopped looking. We want to know if there is any way to stop it from continuing or if this scumbag can just keep doing this indefinitely.

The scumbag can. At least until he loses enough employees and if the town is small enough and word gets around and nobody will work for him.
