Is that illegal to get a check without working?

I was hired by Bank of America and I changed my mind at the last minute b/c it conflict with my school time. 7 days later,that company starts sent check to me weekly and I just deposit it. Is that illegal? will be put in jail if they sue me?

They can sue you for it and they will win. However, it's not something for which you will go to jail; you would be ordered to repay them.

It would be much easier if you would simply return the check or, if you have already cashed it, write them your own check for the same amount. It's not outside the realm of possibility that you could be held responsible for court costs - cheaper for you to do it of your own accord rather than wait for them to sue you.

Keeping money you received in error and you know you are not entitled to is called stealing.
