Income after divorce

I am divorced now about 4 years. When I was married, I wrote a book. I invested $10,000.00 to have my book written. Now, about 8 years later, I am wanting to have my book published. Will my x-spouse be entitled to any of the proceeds I receive from book? If so, is there any way I can prevent this from happening? I appreciate any advice someone may have to offer.
