I know in Minnesota you get a day off every 21 days, but I've heard if you work 12 hour shifts, you get a day off every 14 days. Is this true? I want to let my boss know, because Sunday will be our 18th day of working 12 hour shifts, and everyone wants a day off. If I can let her know we're supposed to get a day off every 14 days, everyone would really appreciate it.

The best way to approach this is to have her check on her calendar when you next day off is scheduled to happen. If she has none sheduled, ask her to put one down for you. Let the others ask for theirs. Good Luck!

There is no statute in Minnesota that dictates how often you get a day off. With limited, industry specific exceptions you can legally be required to work 365 days a year (366 days during Leap Year). It would be foolish but it would be legal.

This remains true regardless of the length of the shift.

I don't disagree that you should be allowed a day off but neither Minnesota nor Federal law requires it.
