The various state child protection agencies don't reveal much about their strategies.

Generally IF you aren't under a court order, you should never say anything to a child protection worker, just as you shouldn't to a police officer.

Without a court order, you don't have to allow anyone to enter your home, and if you do, you'll rue the day you allowed the camel to enter your tent!

This varies depending on if they find anything or not and if any action is required. You might find other parents who have dealt with Children's services and can pass on their experience to you om forum below hosted by this site (Thelaw, com) its not a legal site but a parenting forum.

There's no obligation that they ever "close" a case. They have some statutory timelines from the time abuse reports are filed to make an assessment or respond to requests for administrative reviews.
