How do you get a copy of an old will?

How do I get a copy of a will from 1998.

I called the probate court and they didn't have it.

I know the lawyers name but he is long gone and I can't find him. There may be another lawyer I have address and number of.

Would they contact the executor from that long ago if I wanted a copy?

This would be my father's will.

If the will was ever filed or probated in a certain county, the county clerk or court clerk would have a copy on file.
Michigan has 83 counties, if I recall correctly. So, you could contact the neighboring counties and inquire. These days, in many counties you can search online.

If the will was never probated or filed with a county clerk, you might never find it.
