I have sole custody of my son, 17. I agreed with my ex to 1 week on 1 week off, with the stipulation that he WORK with me, as I have the final decision, per court, in regard to my son's welfare. It is not working for the well being of my son, as he agreed in court.

He has done nothing but show hostility, try to turn my son against me, bullied me, and has been in contempt in many ways against the court orders, that are too many to list here.

You may think that my son is older, but he is suffering and I am very concerned about his future. My ex will not even help me get him to counseling, church or anything else when he has him and works against me in every way he can, it has damaged my son and my relationship, because he slanders me, either covertly or overtly, in front of my son. He is teaching my son to be a bully, as he is. It was an abusive marriage, by the way. I want better for my child.

I am unemployed and have no money and need to file against him. How do I do this with the court, is there any way without spending money?

Thanks for reading

There may be resources available to you in your city or county. Check with the court house, legal aid, or a local law school to see if they have any suggestion or direction.

Any attempt to hit him with "contempt" allegations will have to be coupled with specific and articulable examples of what happened and how the act or omission was an intentional violation of the written terms of the court order. Many issues of contention are not written into custody orders, so they are not easy to enforce. You migth also consider changing the orders to restrict or limit visitation, comments he can make in front of your son, etc.

Unfortunately, since he is 17 he will soon be a legal adult. At that time, he will go forth and do what he will. So any changes now may be short-lived if they an get approved before he turns 18.
