how can i legally obtain father's info?

i only have hotel room numbers and dates that my kid's father and I hooked up at. how can I legally obtain his information so I can file a paternity?
i'm in WA state

My guess is that you would have to file your lawsuit against John Doe and subpoena the hotel's records.

Let me make sure I understand the facts:

You had unprotected sex -- apparently multiple times -- with a man without even knowing his name or a phone number or e-mail address? Is that what you're telling us? What the heck were you thinking? How many other men did you do this with, and why are you (apparently) so certain that this man is your child's father?

As suggested, you can file a paternity action naming the father as "John Doe" and subpoena the hotel's/hotels' records, but I wouldn't hold my breath.

You can hire a Private Eye or a skip tracer to find the guy.

Call a few and ask what the charge might be if you hired their agency.

The state might help you find the guy.

It can't hurt to ask.

Assuming "DSHS" is the agency in Washington that assists in child support enforcement, the best way to find out what that agency can do for you is to call or visit a local office and ask. I would hope it goes without saying that the extent to which a name without other info will be helpful will be inversely proportional to the commonality of the name.

In this case, even if you can get a subpoena for the name on the room, the hotel may no longer have those records, he could have used a fake name or nickname, or have a super common name. How old is your kid?
