Does Louisiana even recognize same sex relationships/allow adoption by gay couples? I don't think Louisiana even recognizes second parent adoption.

Anything. We want to be the ones raising the baby without having to worry about it being taken away from us a few months or years down the road. Would it be better if just one of us tried to adopt it or would they still see us as a couple?

The other unknown is the father. No one, including the mother, can say who the bio-dad is until a DNA test has been conducted PROVING John Doe, or Buddy Brown is the father. All that is known is that a man claims he doesn't want to be a father. In some cases, there are usually multiple suspects who might be the real baby daddy.
Be careful, don't get your hopes up, don't become emotionally attached to the baby.
I am not going to get upset or offended by anything you say or ask. I really just want to find out what we can do. The mom has had a history of drugs and doesnt even have her other 3 kids because of her chosen lifestyle. Not to mention we have been wanting a child for years and we just haven't been blessed yet. I believe everything happens for a reason and if she ends up actually giving us the baby, we would be completely devastated if it was taken away again when we could have done something about it. Please help? Any kind of advice or direction is better than none.
