I am going through an ugly divorce. I have found out that my ex forged my name on so many documents. Three months before he left, he bought a new truck and forged my name on the loan in front of a notory. I made the payments during the marriage, but I did not know he had used my name. He also obtained a second mortgage on our home. I was and still am on the first deed of trust and I did not sign off on the second. The bank refuses to give me any information because my name is not on the second. I was aware he did something. I paid most of the bills but did not know the details because our life was pretty complicated financially due to a lot of corporate holdings and land development projects.
My attorney says it is still a community debt because we used the money together. My question is this, did my ex do something wrong or are you allowed to do this when you are married (that is the way I am feeling). Can he get into trouble for this? Can I threaten to get him into trouble for this?
