I am a freelancer. I did a job for an employer and havent got paid for it. They owe me money since October 2009. Tried calling and emailing several times, the answer is- we will check into it and let you know. Of course nobody is following up, so I have to call again to hear the same thing.. At this point I am getting really annoyed and would like to pursue it legally. How do I start? Where do I go? And what to expect?

Need to mention that the company is registered in PA, and I did the work for them in CT. I am a CT resident.

Also, from what I know- I am not the only one who is treated this way, what makes me also think that they may call for bankruptsy at some point.. so if this happens- does it mean I will never see my money?

Thanks!

Yes, that is precisely what could happen.

You could bring an action for your earnings in small claims court.

That might be the quickest way to get a judgment.

But, enforcing that judgment will be difficult.

If the amount owed is significant, you could pursue it.

Otherwise, you might want to consider just walking away.
