I passed the interview and was hired for a different position within my company in December of 2015 and officially carried the position until June 2016. In June was informed by my employer that the position I was hired is eliminated. 6 months later the same position was reposted.
My question -shouldn't the position offered to me in first place?
Do I have any legal rights?
Thank you.

As an at will employee, the boss woman can fire you because you didn't smile at her.

Unless you own the company, you'll always be at the mercy of the boss woman or boss man, and their many under bosses.

Your recourse is to apply for unemployment and start seeking new employment.

As long as you choose to play their game of work, you are forced to play it by their rules.

It would be nice of them to offer the position to you but there is no law that compels them to.
