My ex has all of my children's legal documents. Birth Certificates, passports and insurance cards. I asked for copies, but he won't give them to me. He said they are his and he doesn't have to give them to me. Is there a way to make him give me copies? They're my children too, I should have every legal right to those documents. What do I do?

Which parent is the custodial parent?

The birth certificates are easy, just order additional certified copies. Both of you can't possess the same copies.

The custodial patent should have the insurance cards. But, you can order an extra set. That way you both have them if the children get sick or injured while in your respective care.

The custodial parent should have the passports. If that is you, you might have to go to court and have the court order him to give them to you. Unless he does so voluntarily.

It doesn't matter in reality. The kids can't leave the country anyway unless you both agree.
