I am a contractor for a company (1099, they don't do full employment, they dont want to deal with it) and am being required to attend the company meeting. However, they are refusing to pay me for the meeting.
There is nothing in the contract that says I must attend the meeting without compensation.
Is there a law covering this? I'm not even sure where to look for this one.
Also, The contract states it is governed by the laws of Washington. Yet the company is out Nevada. Can they do that? Does that affect anything.
Thanks much for the help.
