I work for a large auto dealership. I am wondering how long the dealership can hold commissions? The cash for clunkers program generated a good amount of business for us (over 70 deals) since it started. The dealership has not payed commission to any salesman on any of them yet. They (the dealership) have not been reimbursed by the gov't for any of the deals but I know for a fact that they have submitted the deals to banks for financing (they have 30 days to do this or the deals are nullified) and have cashed more than a few deposit checks from the customers. Commission has always been payed the month following the month in which the deal was done. This was not the case this month. Does anyone know the law in Virginia? There are more than a few of us who would like to be able to pay our bills this month. Thanks.
